Why schema markup matters

Structured data helps search engines understand your content and makes your pages eligible for rich results and AI Overviews, which boost visibility and click-through. JSON-LD is Google’s recommended format, and using a generator ensures valid syntax and all required properties.

Select what you are marking up and the generator shows only the fields that type needs, then builds clean JSON-LD you can paste straight into the page. Supported types:

Why structured data is worth the effort

Schema does not directly raise rankings, but it tells search engines what an entity is rather than making them infer it, and it unlocks rich results, review stars, FAQ accordions, product prices, business hours, video thumbnails and job cards. In AI-generated answers, clean structured data makes your brand far easier to cite correctly.

Which type belongs on which page

Use Organization once on the homepage, LocalBusiness on each location page, Article or BlogPosting on every post, Product on product pages with a real price, Service on service pages, and BreadcrumbList on any page more than one level deep. FAQPage and HowTo should only be used where the questions or steps are genuinely visible to the visitor.

Rules that keep you out of trouble

Only mark up content that is actually on the page. Invisible or invented markup is a manual-action risk, and fake review stars are the most commonly penalised abuse. Keep one JSON-LD block per entity, use absolute URLs, use ISO dates and durations, and re-validate after any template change. The generator flags the required properties you have left blank before you publish.

Validation workflow

  1. Pick the type, fill the fields, and copy the generated block.
  2. Paste it before </head>, or into a custom HTML block on the page.
  3. Run the URL through Google’s Rich Results Test to confirm eligibility.
  4. Check Search Console’s enhancement reports a week later for errors at scale.

Pair it with the rest of your technical checks
